Why one sub and one hyper?
Well if you're all the way to the left side of the stage, right in front of the speaker, you'd want to run sub on the left but you need the extra directionality of the hyper on the right to get the right speaker. I think the result speaks for itself....
To Shibuya44: There were no battery cuts in the BB Kings show. What are you referring to?? Also, the sound of this recording accurately reflects the mix in the venue....

Needs work...
4 or 5 start show, fer sure, but I'd have to say the recording needs a little help. Although the balance of the instruments levels seems great, this just plays out as if it was recorded through a hankerchief, or around the corner. I understand location is the main cause of recording problems, and with where these mics were, this recording is amazing!! If I'm going to keep either of these shows, I'll take the 24 bit, then try a remaster to open it up a bit. With the amount of music I have to deal with, though, I'd probably spend the $15 for the DSBD. THANKS ALOT for the recording & it's promptness. I'm not tryin' to bitch (if I was, I'd be talking about Battery cuts in BOTH shows!!) Thanks for the Bobby fix!

Nice Run on PCP
I will give this the full listen during my work day, but I liked the run and interplay during Hillbillies on PCP. Steve's sprint around 17 minutes onward was great and Melvin's keyboards were added a great deal of wail to the sound. Nice to hear Bobby Vega's bass in the mix. Sounds like a groovy night!

great recording!
thank you, thank you for recording. it sounds great. I was just wondering why one sub and one hyper? I wish I could have been there, but this recording sounds fantastic. As many of you know, having B. vega on deck is a special treat for old school fans.
Notes
Actually started in the early hours of 12/4/2009 as this was a post-Phish show.
Thing One got cut when my battery ran down after having recorded the entire Phish show beforehand. I think I'm only missing about 20 seconds.
Steve Kimock - guitars
Melvin Seals - organ and other keyboards
John Morgan Kimock - drums
Trevor Exter - vocals (track 1, 7), bass (tracks 1, 2, 3), cello for the rest of the show
Avram Fefer - Saxophone (tracks 3, 4, 7)
Bobby Vega - special guest on bass, replaces Trevor Exter (tracks 4-11)
